Welcome to Move With Lu

Hi, I’m Lucy!

I created Move with Lu in the hopes to teach more people about the magic of Pilates. To help people move better, be stronger, and (most importantly) to make Pilates more accessible to all bodies, as I truly believe Pilates is for everyone.

I hope that through creating Move with Lu, I build a community. A community of like-minded people who are aligned in wanting to share their love of movement, kindness to others, laughter, and of course are wanting to learn a little more about Pilates. Even if you’ve never heard of Pilates before, this is a space for you.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of mind-body exercise that was created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. Originally created for dancers and other athletes, it has since developed into an extremely popular exercise, open to everyone and is now accessible for all bodies and all abilities.

Pilates has six main principles. I create and structure my classes around these principles, so when you come to one of my classes you really will be getting the full mind and body benefits of Pilates.

Lucy is an excellent Pilates teacher. Each session is planned with care, so that all major joints and muscle groups are exercised to improve flexibility, strength, and posture. Her plans always include warm up and cool down moves, and each exercise is demonstrated first.
Participant numbers are kept low so that Lucy can give individual attention, and adapt each exercise to the individual. She helped me personally when I had trouble with curl ups. The exercises are not too difficult and are well suited to the older person who may have mobility or flexibility problems.
The atmosphere within the group is great. Lucy is a natural communicator with a bubbly personality. We always have a good laugh. I really enjoy my classes and look forward to each Wednesday morning, feeling stretched and energised afterwards.

I have been doing Lucy’s Pilates for 8 months. She is a fabulous instructor, she has a calming voice and pays close attention to each class member to make sure they are doing the moves correctly. I have been doing Pilates for over ten years and Lucy has taught me so many new moves. The classes are very well planned and throughout and it’s obvious that Lucy has spent a long time planning each one. Lucy is such a lovely lady, she always makes you feel special and she always has a smile on her. Her classes are hard but she gives easier alternatives if you struggle with the moves, I can highly recommend Lucy‘s Pilates.

I highly recommend Lucy, her Pilates classes are excellent...carefully put together using stretches and pilates movements I have never done before (I've been doing pilates for 15+ years). Lucy is caring and precise in her instruction but challenges your effort so you certainly know you've had a good workout at the end of your class. This class is fun which keeps me motivated to keep fit and flexible, superb thank you Lucy.
